Lake of LiesA Poem by Nagini PotterAnother poem I wrote in AP EnglishHer mother sleeps in their lake of lies, Claiming any furniture she falls on, Stealing any money she happens upon, Shattering the lives of her children, Bathing them in false visions of security. Her mother lives in her lake of lies, Drinking poison in place of water, Tearing the thick envelopes from the mail, Refusing to seek the help her father wishes, Shouting drunkenly of their normality. Her mother died in her lake of lies, Disregarding all signs of danger. She took refuge in her room, Sleeping in the lake of lies, Living in her harsh reality. © 2010 Nagini PotterReviews
