Weathered and GrayA Poem by Nancy Lee Shrader
Weathered and Gray Abandoned house weathered and gray Sadly stands in the distance Hearts of love once filled its walls Now empty it reeks of decay Children once played on its floor Their giggles echoing under its roof House that once stood shiny and white Laughing voices are heard no more Standing in the shadows of a distant past Feeling the love that was in the air Hearing it sing of love long gone Love's sweet magic didn't last Standing on the outskirts of a poetic rhyme Feeling the magic that was once inside I smile with each stoke of my brush Capturing its aura that is lost in time Abandoned house weathered and gray Wind whistles through the cracks Still, its weathered beauty fills my eye On the landscape like an antique bouquet © 2008 Nancy Lee Shrader |
