COLOR ME GONEA Poem by Nancy Lee Shrader
Color Me Gone I sit and colors all in black The little girl on the page She sits among the wild flowers, But you never see her rage. Will this picture last? As long as I am here Will it show the world? The falling of a tear I look around this playroom I’m not the only one to die Faces will disappear and You will hear our mothers cry I am only eight years old Many younger here than me The innocence of childhood Is gone; can’t you see In this little picture That I color here today It represents all of us In Heaven’s bouquet Color me gone from this world And I’ll cross the crystal sea Color me in the garden Sitting on Jesus’ knee Color me gone, From a life of pain Color me home In God’s Domain © 2008 Nancy Lee ShraderReviews
