Crying Behind My SmileA Poem by Nancy Lee Shrader
Crying Behind My Smile More wants you had Than I could supply I tried so hard Your love I can’t buy Scared? No not I So where’s your proof Who really cares? You’re standoffish and aloof False was my love A slap in your face Caught in your lies Weaved in lace Never loved you Never will give my heart You’re left out in the cold And now crying will start I turn and walk out the door Before you see the true me Before my heart reveals How broke it can be A mask I will wear Painted red in disguise You won’t see me cry Tears won’t fall from my eyes I’ll wear my disguise The face of a clown I’ll be crying inside But I won’t wear a frown A big painted smile Will cover my face All the pain inside My smile will erase © 2008 Nancy Lee Shrader |
