Rescued

Rescued

A Poem by Nancy Lee Shrader

Rescued

Unpolished soldiers

Inside foxhole

Alphabet of sorrow

Pitch of the blood

Deep and wide

Breaking silence bombs explode

Throat tightens

Fear within the scarped hole

Bomb landed to my right

Lamentations and weeping sounds

Fat tanks, guns pointing up

Rescued
