Haiku CircusA Poem by Nancy Lee Shrader
Haiku Under the big top Three rings of amazing sights We’re all children there Swing on the trapeze Amazing feats in the air Girl in jeweled crown Lions, tigers, bears Dancing and jumping through rings Elephants walk tall High wire acrobats Death defying without net Hear the breath sounds here Trick ponies perform In headdress and braided tails Counting, paw the ground Horses galloping With pretty girls on their backs Balancing they stand Acrobat Jugglers Throw many balls in the air Standing ten men high Laughter fills the air Painted faced clowns fill the ring Bringing down the house Tents come down at dawn Laughter and joy everywhere On to the next town © 2009 Nancy Lee ShraderReviews
