Frozen Piggy ToesA Poem by Nancy Lee Shrader
Frozen Piggy Toes Winter snows fall Chilly winds blow hard My toes are aching from the cold My space heater stands on guard Deep within my old bones I feel a creaking there The freezing digs down deep In this smelly pair No matter what I do I cannot warm my toes Chill bumps are arising To my icy nose No matter how many fuzzy socks I wear Or how hot I stoke the fire All ten toes are shaking My situation’s dire I feel my toes go numb I feel the prickly pain Frostbite’s burning freeze In the freezing rain My frozen little piggys Cry wee wee it’s too chilly What would Mama say I’m freezing willy nilly Oh how I wish for summer In the hot blazing sun I’ll stick my toes into the sand And bake them one by one
