Charity and GreedA Poem by Nancy Lee Shrader
Charity and Greed Greed is in the mind Charity comes from the heart It’s a pull and push Where is your brother? Am I my brother’s keeper? God is not amused Abraham sets feast When God’s angels come to call Mercy for sinners Lot opens his home To the angels sent by God He gives protection Sold into slavery By brothers with greedy hearts Charity returned Greed fills up their hearts These evil men of Sodom And they are struck blind Defied her father Drew a baby from the Nile Princess charity Lazarus poor man Begs crumbs from rich man’s table Abraham’s bosom Greedy is this man He now begs for charity His greed was his doom Love of silver coins Judas betrays in his greed Seals it with a kiss Soldiers casting lots Their greed is established here They darken their souls Carries our burdens Also our iniquities In His nail scared hands Jesus dies for all God’s ultimate charity He dies in our stead Gives the gift of love Salvation for all mankind So He shed His blood © 2009 Nancy Lee ShraderReviews
