Her Royal HandA Poem by Nancy Lee Shrader
Her Royal Hand Jousting for her royal hand Two Knights clash steel against steel One will be the victor One will meet his death Princess trembles as she watches Holding her royal breath One she loves with all her heart The other her best friend Mixed emotions fill her soul Which one will win her royal hand? Which one will be the one to die? Wishing neither had taken this stand She decides to spare them both As she steps close to the edge She flings herself from the palace roof To the jousting field below Just before she hits the ground She sees the final blow Her true love dead now too They walk hand and hand Into the afterlife Her best friend holds her lifeless form And by his own hand he dies He too will now transform Together at last All three on the same page No jousting in the afterlife No dueling spears to dodge Only castles floating in the sky In the palace where they now lodge © 2009 Nancy Lee ShraderReviews
