Haiku Pens for Peace

Haiku Pens for Peace

A Poem by Nancy Lee Shrader

Haiku Pens for Peace

Pens for peace not war

Written words comes from the heart

Too many dying

Hear their crying there

Children in faraway lands

They reach out to you

Blood runs in the streets

Innocent are hurt the most

See their tears falling

Destinies unsure

Day to day cower in fear

Playtime unknown there

Suffering in war

Often touch the innocent

Knows no height or age

Peace will not come there

While angry men fill the streets

Stop the war, bring peace

Evil reins supreme

How many children will die?

In this war torn land

A new day will dawn

Brothers and sisters unite

Exhibit love not war

Destroy the weapons

Turn spears into pruning hooks

Lamb and lion lie down

In the day of peace

All God’s people join their hands

Sing the song of peace
