Dawn of the WolfA Poem by Nancy Lee Shrader
Dawn of the Wolf Babbling brook beckons in early dawn Nearby a doe drinks with her fawn Wolf and his mate pause to drink He calls his mate with a wolfish wink Hunger put on hold as thirst they feel A moment of closeness is revealed Prey beware, they’re on the prowl Great hunters they are with a unique style Thirst now quenched, the hunt is on Doe and fawn have quickly withdrawn They have her scent; they begin the chase Doe will soon lose this race Fawn well hidden, doe leads them away She becomes a meal for the gray Wolves bay at the moon by night Giving thanks in the pale moonlight © 2009 Nancy Lee ShraderReviews
