NEVERMOREA Poem by Nancy Lee Shrader
NEVERMORE Merlin hovers beside the castle in the fog Near his room in the north tower Choosing the form to complete his spell Dark prince will soon feel his power Raven in the light of the sun Dark Knight when the moon is full Craves Crown Princess Aurora Stole the magic and broke Marlin’s rule Dark heart has been revealed Stolen incantations, grave mistake You’ll never see my punishment come Only the change when your bones brake Be on guard dark prince, protect princess fair As she rides each day through wooded glen I cast this spell in the midnight hour Now you will suffer for your grievous sin A raven you’ll be forevermore Dark knight no longer in light of day Under the full moon, dark prince you’ll be True form trapped beneath feathers, you’ll stay On moonlit nights, I’ll hear your cry Daily you’ll knock on my chamber door Begging forgiveness, begging to return My answer will be Nevermore, Nevermore Your dark heart will remain in Raven’s Claw Identify lost in the morning sun’s rays Try as you may to escape my spell A raven you’ll be till the end of your days NEVERMORE Dark Prince NEVERMORE © 2009 Nancy Lee ShraderReviews
