Lust and ChastityA Poem by Nancy Lee Shrader
Haiku Lust and Chastity He watches her bathe Lust and chastity collide One of the seven Lust a deadly sin Chastity, glory to God The Father see’s all Chastity marks worth Virtue is a woman’s crown Woe to one who falls Lust brought him to ruin Coveted another’s wife David feels God’s wrath Lust for Bathsheba Uriah was sent to die Sin was committed Her chastity spurned Uriah’s blood cries out to God Punishment on both He was of God’s heart God’s chastisement now on him And Bathsheba too Now all sin erupts Brother violates a sister Riff between brothers Sons turn from father Brother turns against brother One’s life is taken Sin brings forth a child Baby is sent back to God Mourning cries are heard Be begs forgiveness And opens his heart to God Down on bended knee God shows His mercy Another child is given Solomon the king Moral of this tale Women are to be faithful Men cleave to their wives © 2009 Nancy Lee ShraderReviews
