Haiku Gluttony and TemperanceA Poem by Nancy Lee Shrader
Haiku Crave more than you need A glutton for food or things Gluttons must have more A temperate person Satisfied with what he has Never wanting more But do I speak truth We are all gluttons at times And show temperance too We must fight the urge That lives in each one of us Woe the fight is one God provides our needs Our wants are just so tempting Display self control Temperance overrides The glutton that lives within A still small voice speaks Hear the voice within Even though it speaks so soft Gentle voice rings true Once a glutton’s soul Now a temperate soul reborn God is at the helm © 2009 Nancy Lee ShraderFeatured Review
