Hera Cast Your SpellA Poem by Nancy Lee Shrader
Hera, Cast Your Spell Danielle, priestess to the gods Found favor in Zeus’ sight He dreamed of her in the midnight hour Hera walked inside his dreams one starry night She saw his obsession with the earthbound girl Her anger simmered until it burned out of control Then came the night that Zeus went too far He displayed his passion whispering to her soul Hera cast a love spell on the earthling girl Danielle fell in love with Stavros, the temple knight Forbidden love burned hot in their souls Danielle fled the temple to meet her lover in the night In the midnight hour Zeus watch this sacrilege In a brief moment he urged the anger of the gods Out of sight on Mount Olympus, Zeus cursed the two And the two lovers are now at odds You will be an exploding rock, Zeus did say Danielle will forever be far from your aching arms She’ll be a delicate bird fragile to your deadly touch Nevermore will you take pleasure in her many charms Danielle screams as she is transformed Her lover violently ripped from her embrace Stavros is thrust into deepest space She’s adorned in feathers instead of lace His sweet love now a snow white dove As he becomes a meteor exploding in the sky He looks down through the atmosphere And knows if she flew to him; she would surly die Years and years great Zeus’ curse separates their hearts They yearn in the midnight hour for a brief reprieve Hera’s jealousy burns and this she won’t allow Within her mind, she too had a spell to weave Hera cast her spell, bestowing brief moments of pleasure As the lovers reunite amongst the fallen debris On clear blue sky days you’ll feel the softness of her lips I cast this spell and it is my final decree We put a curse on the bolts Zeus now holds Invisible he’ll remain when skies are blue Aphrodite and Venus joined Hera in her spell Stavros and Danielle now flaunt your love so true Anger burns against the three But try as he may, Zeus could not break their spell So day after day great Zeus is forced to watch Stavros the temple knight kissing his beautiful Danielle Stavros and Danielle live for clear blue skies Savoring each magic moment so brief There love shines through skies of blue Unseen, Zeus looks on in disbelief © 2009 Nancy Lee ShraderReviews
