Haiku Run for the MoneyA Poem by Nancy Lee Shrader
Haiku Run for the Money Corporate offices It is ninety stories high Dome is in the clouds
Moon Roof views the stars Shining through its windowpane Will be a long night
Businessmen are mad Executives must work late Winning new account
Client has arrived He expects their very best For the lowest bid
Model must be best Not a piece out of its place Perfect miniature
He who works hardest Pockets soon full of money Bonus for the best
Client took his seat He smiled a cynical smile In the cat bird seat
Each man sings a tune Look my model is the best It’s in under bid
Figured in the cost Down to the smallest detail Mine is best of all
Living high on hog Bonus in the three figures Client has been won © 2009 Nancy Lee Shrader |
