Haiku Happy BirthdayA Poem by Nancy Lee Shrader
Haiku Happy Birthday Born on the sixteenth Hot June is my birthday month Mama rent the pool It’s my birthday splash Coconut tanning lotions Fragrance fills the air Candles on my cake I blow, but they all stay lit Little brother laughs Yes, he made the switch Trick candles just won’t blow out My cheeks turn bright red Gifts glued together Oh what a birthday crisis Brother laughs again I’ll see he gets his July is his birthday month I’ve two weeks to plan Unwrap all his gifts Switch boy stuff with Barbie dolls Panty hose and bras Put glue in the rose He will insist on that piece He’s not laughing now Aren’t birthdays such fun I am older and wiser Taught him a lesson © 2009 Nancy Lee Shrader |
