Haiku Duck on the WaterA Poem by Nancy Lee Shrader
Haiku Duck on the Water Duck feels loneliness Mallards flew away last fall Leaving him behind With broken wing the Frozen winter was too long He waits their return Duck on the water He sees his reflection there Could this be a friend? Figures out it's him Duck's tears splash in the water Soon will die of grief Wait, up in the sky Duck spies the flock; they've come home Duck's life is restored Duck on the water Rejuvenation is found This duck can still swim Woodsman used a stick And strips from his only shirt Duck still felt the pain Bandage now hanging Good woodsman’s stick kept wing straight Come fall, fly away © 2009 Nancy Lee ShraderReviews
