Haiku The Blunt StickA Poem by Nancy Lee Shrader
Haiku The Blunt Stick I feel the blunt stick Beats me into submission Again and Again The pain it has caused Caused my tears to fall like rain No, it doesn’t care First time it hit me I fought back with all I had It won in the end Second time I won But lost much in the battle An eye was the price Third time I am old Took my reason for living Blunt stick is laughing I was young back then Child died in seventy-seven Stick beat me way down Many years passed by Thought blunt stick had gone away It lurked in darkness We all fought so hard But grandson lost his right eye Lived through the battle Blunt stick strikes again Husband fought the battle hard Blunt stick was too large Blunt stick has a name Mere mention brings fear to all This Cancer devours © 2009 Nancy Lee Shrader |
