Michael's Big Game

Michael's Big Game

A Poem by Nancy Lee Shrader

Michael's Big Game

Bases are loaded

Out of the dugout he comes

It’s his turn to bat

Rise of excitement

They’re cheering for number three

Today is his day

He steps to the plate

Keeps his eyes glued to the ball

Swing away, home run

His heart beating fast

He runs the bases for home

A nine year-old’s dream

Next batter strikes out

But he has brought in four runs

End of the inning

Pitcher takes the mound

Number three is on his back

Three up and three down

On and on it goes

Batters fall by the wayside

He has his big win

Smile is on his face

That displays his inner glow

It’s Michael’s big game

Rumors go around

He’s best pitcher in the league

Baseball Star is born
