A Breath before dyingA Poem by Nancy Lee Shrader
A Breath Before Dying I watched my sweet love fight for each breath The death rattle gurgled in his throat I found myself willing him to breathe Taking in deep breaths, praying for a reprieve I begged him to remain with me, but It seemed that God had other plans He did try to fight to stay with his love However, his orders came from above Give up your fight my son, he heard God say Come rest high on My Mountain, your work here’s done Your loving wife will join you here in time Meanwhile out of love, she writes this rhyme © 2009 Nancy Lee Shrader |
