Haiku 2050

Haiku 2050

A Poem by Nancy Lee Shrader

Haiku 2050
Time goes by so fast
In the year 2050
Many things have changed

We drive our cars still
But now ten feet off the ground
Auto pilot on

Houses sure have changed
We live in high rise houses
Way up in the sky

No grocery shopping
Have talking appliances
Fridge calls in orders

No messy carpets
Dust bunnies don’t build up here
 Sweeper has a mind

Fast food is faster
Blue pill is a four-course meal
Anyone hungry?

Glad I’m living now
Me I like a slower pace
To smell the roses

I’m afraid of heights
I like my car on the ground
Turn the wheel myself

The fast food is nice
Biscuits, chicken and dumplings
Sunday dinner now

Do not rush the years
Enjoy the sweet country life
In homes neat and clean
