WIP - "unemployed archive"

Preface: I was reading my lesson in homeschool after procrastinating for like 5 hours (it's 11 pm rn..sos) and my lesson was talking about "In this lesson, you will review researching skills for both the library and online research..." And the section contained this: "Using the Library, The Catalog System, The Reference Collection, Other Reference Works, Indexes, Dictionaries" which I thought was really irrelevant... you know, considering now, with the click of a button, we'd already get needed information. TBF- the very bottom of the page said, "© 1999, 2002, 2005, 2009, 2011 [school name], Inc. " so it's pretty outdated, and suddenly I got a story idea.

-- STORY --

The setting is maybe centuries in the future. We live in a futuristic world- you know, the typical cyberpunk society with flying cars and holographic devices.

Our main character is a sleep deprivator and procrastinator [probably my descendant lol], he's scrolling through some old media in an ancient website somewhere in the middle of the night out of boredom. Suddenly, he comes across an eerie website made 100 years ago, containing very eccentric information.... that didn't scare him away though. In fact, he was very intrigued.

Spiked from boredom, he contacted his friends with his obviously holographic watch, telling them they're up for an adventure. The next day, they visit the location, which was around the area, hence why he was up for it in the first place, and it was an abandoned library near a hidden alleyway... Maybe I could make it that they're a group of teenagers, and their current society could reflect the society now, meaning they're a group of friends who want to make it big. Except they've got way more advanced equipment and go on way more gnarly adventures, you know, like exploring abandoned places or do whatever futuristic bull.

Despite the eerie exterior of this abandoned, forgotten, ancient library, they say, "screw it" and enthusiastically go inside without expecting anything [subconsciously, they hoped the website was a scam, they were just bored af].

They take a look around before finding a mysterious book that was addressed on the website.

This story has a twist which I haven't thought of, so this is a WIP [I'm probably never coming back] and I posted this idea cuz... anyone else ever stumble across old media and imagine what it’d be like centuries later?
