The earlier Aug.17, 2017, observations of two neutron stars collision 130 million light years away have resulted in some revisions on space and dark energy. Studying the gravity waves from the collision, have lead some scientists to place more definitive constraints on theories of non-material space and dark energy, which also sidelined several current theories, including some scalar tensor graviton, held until now. 

Several science papers have been produced to reflect the change and findings which were not as definitive about aspects of non-material space and its propulsion until this event was detected through LIGO. Derived, detailed study of the neutron stars' collision gave insight on some fine natures of gravity waves and space.

For Dark Energy, this narrowed down the probable effective theories on it. In short, the natures of Dark Energy now favored are: 1) it comes as a result of the Higgs field,
2) Dark Energy derives from empty space.

The empty space source has been with scientists over a decade, while the Higgs field is more new due to the recent confirmations of Higgs boson.
