What the Dalai Lama doesn't say...A Story by neurostar burns
What the Dalai Lama doesn't mention when communicating with endeared, "delicate'"? sensibilities of western audiences.
The Dalai Lama is an adherent to an old, Asian approach, which would not be readily understood by audiences of western views. The Dalai Lamas are adherents to the methodological school of the Prasangika for hundreds of years. It is a developed branch of the Madhyamaka school that was initiated back in the 2nd century. It later developed schools in China and Japan, Nepal, Tibet. Although the Dalai Lama lives accordingly by the Prasangika, he does not expound it to western audiences so as to not befuddle or confuse them although he may occasionally allude to it but not in detail. This in part is out of compassion. It is, however, considered the core of the methods. Masters in China, Japan and elsewhere of this school likewise refrain from bombarding commoners with the full complex method. If one wishes to see a synopsis of this method, there is one in these entries called "none". There are some other related entries throughout. Namaste
