HOT! LRDs known

Mysteries presented earlier on Little Red Dots (LRD) in very deep space may have been cracked at the University of Copenhagen. They spent two years analyzing data.

The extremely distant objects dubbed together as LRDs, which seemed to appear only a few hundred million years after the inception of the universe only to disappear a billion years after, was analyized by the Niels Bohr Institute Cosmic Dawn Center.

They are described as "young black holes, a hundred times less massive than previously believed." They are cocooned in hot ionized gas which is being consumed to eventually grow larger. This process generates enormous heat, which shines through the cocoon. This radiation is what gives the little red dots their unique color", according to Professor Darach Watson.The leader of the team is Vadim Rusakov. It is released in the journal, "Nature", published January 14, 2026.  

'When gas falls towards a black hole, it spirals down into a kind of disk or funnel towards the surface of the black hole. It ends up going so fast and is squeezed so densely that it generates temperatures of millions of degrees and lights up brightly. But only a small amount of the gas is swallowed by the black hole.' That is because the smallness of the event horizon of the black holes.
