Dark Cosmos updates

Dark Cosmos updates

A Story by neurostar burns

The following constitutes some released updates in general for exploration of the dark compositions of millions of galaxies in the cosmos.
1) Dark Energy Survey (DES)
The DES is a compilation of multiple studies for dark natures. In January 2026 the DES teams have released six years of data gathering and analyses. Some of it changes the believed composition boundaries that had been utilized. Information can be found in "Physical Review D", and in entries at arxiv.org. e.g. arxiv.org: 2601.14559, (new or recent entries) of this time period of January.
2)Dark Galaxies
Broadly speaking, there appears, according to literature, at least two depictions of dark galaxies: one, is early galaxies that are comprised of dark matter, and may not be necessarily optically invisible. (Championed by Katherine Freese). Two, "optically dark galaxies". Usually depicted as being very enshrouded in dust and so very little light shows through the galaxy, as seen from Earth and was not detectable to the Hubble Space Telescope.
There is a paper out by Lagache and Ade. Can be found at arxiv.org: 2506. 15322.
3) one take away in the body (of item 1) on the density acceleration rate expansion, notes "DES found that their data mostly aligned with the standard model of cosmology. Their data also fit the evolving dark energy model, but no better than they fit the standard model."
