Death

A poem about death. A soldier that wants to fight and die for his country fighting in the battles.

Death has a meaning.

It is a new beginning.

It is the end which has no end.

The reason for which all of us were send.

Cheating it is impossible.

It is something inevitable.

Crying for the dead ones is foolishness.

Better go forward and stare it at its face.

Die without a reason and you will be forgotten.

Die for a reason like fighting for your nation.

You will be a hero if you die for your country.

Even if you are a small soldier in the biggest infantry.

Do have the courage to face even the inferno.

If you really do then that's not a place you will ever have to go.

To die for one's country……...As a defender or as an aggressor? To follow the line of command without question? Sorry, N.T., I have serious misgivings about dying for one's country when you are the aggressor - no matter what the people who direct history and who write history books say. Heroism and martyrdom is always subjective depending on whose side you are fighting for.
I have so many issues with this. Perhaps, this is not the forum to bring this up to light.

I have been shot at and my mentor was killed mistakenly - all because some soldiers were defending precious territory. Many instances in the field where I almost died. You know one of the stories. Ideals are there but to live it…. I don't know.

I do not support war of any kind now. This poem as I have mentioned in the description was written when I was in school. Then the world was pretty much black and white. You know children we loved the knights and the martyrs who lost life for their motherland. Little did we know what horror is of war.
But now as I have grown up and I understand now that war is the most dangerous horror for which so many people lose their life not just the soldiers. And for what cause???
Thanks for sharing that and bringing that up. And its perfectly fine for you to bring that up. We are here to share our ideas and if we can't then what is the point of all this. Never hesitate to say it on my face. I am so happy you read this and shared your views.

I think the rhymes are a bit forced and dont quite make sense, especially lines 4 and 8. other than that I like the message and basic structure.

Thanks Thomas :) . It was an amateur attempt, I wrote it way back in high school and yeah the rhymes are forced. Hehe :P . And for the 4th line and 8th line. I think death is absolute that we can never escape so when I write "The reason for which all of us were send." I want to say that no matter how much good we do or something ultimately our mortal bodies will die.
And 8th line is to not be afraid of it when finally it arrives, not that going and standing in front of it. (However now that you mention it kinda sounds really odd :P why would anyone stare it in the face. Hehe.)
