her ordersA Poem by bellaabout my abusive stepmomWhen I look in the mirror I see Everything she told me She told me to be pretty So I braided my usually uncontrollable curls She told me to be skinny So I didn't eat She told me to be more lady like So I crossed my legs and kept quiet She told me to smile and stand up straight I did as I was told She told me my green eyes should be blue So I stared into the ocean I followed every command Even when she was plain, fat, boyish, slouched, and frowned. And even had green eyes One day she told me to be happy She told me ugly green eyes need a sparkle to them I did my best but I couldn't be Because her green eyes, lost their sparkle years ago And I wondered who's orders she obeyed
