Deep Sea Demise

Deep Sea Demise

A Poem by Haley Smith
"

A real-life mermaid takes the real-life sailor.

"

How dare you make up such a thing

and who are you to tell him I'm lying?

I'm not a damn picture, so don't frame me!

Oh how you repeatedly ashame me

You're just like a deadly siren

Open your mouth and you reel him in

Cradling him in your arms of oblivion;

don't tell me I need God!

Look at you, bathing in an ocean of sin!

I understand your motive clearly

buy us things, claim to love us dearly

Quit with the masquerade, I see

right through that heinous mask

You've got a sinister motive

no ifs, ands, or buts,

no questions asked

Just keep your mouth shut, maybe your legs too

I'm so surprised he doesn't seem to

forget you

You've got him in a trap;

Mermaid played the sailor a fool

how could something so pretty

turn out to be so cruel?
