Trapped Between Truth and Lie

It rhymes, it's short, read it, and be amazed...

Trapped was I,

Between Truth and a Lie.

For I was asked if it was she I love,

And my heart it flew like a dove.

Indeed it was she I cared for most,

It was known only to the Heavenly Host.

Telling her would come with a cost,

If she did not feel the same, all Hope would be lost.

I’d rather have my heart ache after a Hope,

Than ache for the impossible, for I could not cope.

Nay, quick as the Wind I must fly,

For I have not the courage to tell the Truth, and I have not the Devil to tell a Lie.
