Music Man

Music Man

A Poem by Night Edge
"

Made of song lyrics and titles.

"
Sweet dreams are made of these
Or so he says
And who am I to disagree?
Wouldn't let him go
For a partridge in a pear tree
Or Stacy's mom
In a leather catsuit
I tell him 'Swim away with me
Into the ocean and under the sea'
He says he's too cool for that, cat
The scene has passed. He's lovestoned.
He thinks I know.
He's hot and he's gone
Like he's walking on a black hole sun
We postulate that we are dancer
All entangled in our limbs
Doing the Cell Block tango.
Downstairs parents sigh a Bohemian rhapsody
Too enclouded in their smoke and mid-life crisis
To consider how long we've spent 'studying'
The curves and contrasts of pillows against each other's skin
I tell him 'This is a bad romance'
And he kisses me tender
Tells me he's gotta feeling
That I'm the one
And that sweet dreams are made of these.
Hell.
Who am I to disagree?
