Start of a Friendship

Two weeks after my parent's departure, things went really well. I never knew that knowing who leaves or comes inside the castles would be so hard! I never had any idea how much people went to the castle. Some servants went to buy in the market, some went to their family, which is I didn't know before, cause my family never told that every servant go to their family every month, and some do tasks that are assigned to them. It's really not that easy knowing every people's name and reason of coming in or out. It was harder that I thought! Well, as of now I think I'm doing great. But it's really exhausting! So, Ronald told me to have some rest, he told me that tomorrow's gonna be the day were people don't usually go out because there's a lot to do in the castle. He said that he will be taking care of it and let me rest for a day. I accepted it, I really needed a break.

So today I am taking a rest. I am here in my room reading again some story books to relax my mind about my duty. As I was reading my book I noticed again how Olivia looked at my book, so I asked her.

"Olivia? Do you read?"

"No your majesty"

"But why?"

"I'm not allowed to read, your majesty"

"What? Why?"

"Because I am here to watch you, you majesty."

"Oh yeah, that's right. Would you like to read with me? Here, sit and go read some books"

"But, your majesty, I do not have any books"

"Here" I give here one of my story books from the shelf. But she refuses it.

"Olivia, just read it, it's one of my favorite. It is a love story about poor girl and a prince who fell in love with each other!"

Upon saying it, Olivia took the book and start reading. I read my book as well. Olivia and I spent hours of reading.

"Uhm Olivia?" I suddenly said.

"Yes your majesty?"

"I was just wondering, people in the castle are allowed to leave and visit their family, but you, I don't think you left the castle since you became my maid. Why? I mean don't you want to see them again?"

"I do, your majesty, but..."

"Then go visit them again!"

"I don't think the king would allow it, your majesty."

"Well, the King's not here"

"But your majesty, I could not leave you alone"

"But I won't be alone. I still have some maids, remember?"

"But your majesty..."

"Enough with the 'buts' Olivia pack your bag and leave tomorrow, okay?"

"Thank you, so much, your majesty"

"You're welcome."

Olivia was now standing up and heading to the door when I called her..

"Olivia wait!"

She turned.

"Here, take the book!"

"But it's yours, your majesty"

"Yes, and I'm giving it to you. Don't you like to finish the story?"

"I do, but, your majesty.."

"Olivia, I told you, no more buts and will you stop calling me 'your majesty'. Were friends now, so don't call me that again, okay? Just call me Penelope." I grinned at her as she takes the book from my hand.

"Thanks again..uhmm..Penelope" she said. I smiled and turned my back at her to read my book but before she closed the door..

"Uhmm..Penelope?"

"Yes Olivia?

"I'm just curious, what's story are you reading?"

"It's about a girl doing what she loves"

We both smiled at each other. That night, I think Olivia and I are becoming friends and I think that we will have plenty of memories together.
