Bitter

Bitter

A Poem by Nik

I see you through the lens.

You look at me and then away.

I see how it should be but I just can't make it that way.

You take my breath

When you say my name.

But the sound falls from your lips and is gone.

My grief is overwhelming;

There is no more to feel.

I eat the bitterness for my last meal.

I see the shadow of my heart

As it falls to the floor.

I reach to catch it but miss, just like before.
