The kissA Story by nomoonteaA flash fiction peice, where less is more. Experiment
It wasn't just any dare. It was a double dog dare.
The cafeteria was rumbling with kids laughing and yelling, and plastic trays slamming against wooden tables. I was flabbergasted! " John G", I whined, " you can't be serious,. Come on. Anything but that." John G was adamant. He just grinned that obnoxious grin and shook his head slowly. I looked deep into the abyss, at Owen T. He caught me looking, "damn it" I thought. Owen T smiled. My face was as hot as the school yard cement in August. I felt a bashfull smile flutter against my lips as I looked down at the Green Jello melting on my tray. The smell of the Barfaroni turned my stomach. Owen T was the cutest boy in the seventh grade. He had Brown eyes and dimples. I traced my finger across the rugged wood of the table top, into an ancient engraving. "Algebra sucks" it said. "Go on," John G goaded. "Its your turn. "I double dog dare you. Go ask him for a kiss Emily June or you lose and you pay for the movie on Sunday." © 2025 nomoontea |
