Athen Brings Home His Lesson from SchoolA Story by nomoonteaVery, very short story. Think of it as happening in all of one minute.
Athen was so proud and so serious about what hed learned in pre K.
His mother had helped him off with his Transformers, waterproif, durable small sized back pack in Oramge. It was almost as big as he was. You could almost imagine him tipping over backwards from its weight. When his coat and mittens were off, he began with his eyes wide and blue to explain to his parents and me, what he knew. "Lions and Tigers are Carnivores. That means they eat meat," he said,as if he was teaching us something. His Mom said, "and giraffes, are Herbavores. They eat leaves." He nodded his head happily as he accepted her gift of a Peanutbutter cookie. Being his proud Granny I said, "and some animals are called Omnivores because they eat both meat and leaves" We were all into the moment. It was important. We were important. We were the perveyers of knowledge. It felt like both a priveledge and a blessing to be able to participate in his excitement about learning something new. Then as he went to bite his cookie, his Father, added to the discussion. "Athen is a boogavore." He said That special all encompassing moment popped just like a soap bubble into the air. We looked at the father, and laughed. we all felt the need of a little comic relief. Even the dog, (a Jack Russel Terrier) wagged his tail. © 2025 nomoonteaReviews
