Falling into Place

It’s really quite humorous how everything falls into place
I can look into your eyes and feel like nothing’s changed
Like everything that has happened was a mere figment of my imagination

Visualizing everything so perfectly
So wrapped up in your words that I lose mine
So speechless that it almost intertwines with the room’s complacent silence 

I couldn’t explain this feeling if I had to

Biting away at the very nails that scratch your skin
Caressing my now dry lips reminiscent of the moisture they exert when they are intertwined with yours
It’s quite funny how indifferent I seem to be
Clutching onto a tattered memory that permeates my skin
Losing awareness as the water illuminates the freckles on your skin
Feeling almost sinful as I can vaguely hear the beat of a drum
This is only temporary
Like the callous on this thumb

Whispering sweet nothings never appealed to me 

Clearly imperceptible to my own speech
I’m too caught up in the sound of metal unfastening 

Clammy hands let me know I’m not in control

And for once, that’s insignificant
Clutching onto you for some type of release 

And, of course, it’s reached

Writing and reacting to the simple things 

The excitement it brings
All I can do is smile as I look at your face 

Twitching mildly as everything

Falls into place
