Things to Remember While Planning a Memorial or Funeral Service Program

Things to Remember While Planning a Memorial or Funeral Service Program

A Story by Hardy Owens

A memorial service program is a printed document distributed to attendees of the memorial service. It explains what to expect from the impending service and discusses the deceased and their life.

Funerals and memorial ceremonies allow family members, friends, and those who cared about the departed to commemorate and remember the deceased while caring for those closest to them and each other. Memorial service planning is a deeply personal experience. The choices will be influenced by a variety of things, including life experiences, relationships with the deceased, what the deceased desired, what one can afford, and others. Therefore, one should recall everything while writing the memorial service program template. Although, it has become a lot easier with the help of the internet.

An orderly sequence of planned events is included in a funeral or memorial ceremony program. The sequence of service refers to the chronological listing of these events. Printable funeral & memorial program templates should be written and corrected before the distribution. People are asked to give readings or deliver eulogies at funerals and memorial gatherings. A lot of the time, music is incorporated as well. A religious leader from the deceased's church could offer a prayer or a sermon if the deceased belonged to that church. The service can be secular if they are not religious and have an atheist funeral. All of these events should be included to be scheduled to occur in a memorial service program.

The Cover

A memorial service program's cover should make a good first impression. The majority of book covers are made of images. They might use a solo snapshot of the deceased or a photo montage of images of the deceased's whole life. Alternatively, one might go for something more abstract, like a field or a rainbow. The name of the departed, their dates of birth and death, and the circumstances of the memorial service can all be included on the cover.

Choosing the Fonts Wisely

A memorial ceremony program is frequently seen as a souvenir for the deceased's relatives and friends. However, it isn't just for aesthetic sake. It does, however, include vital information. While script typefaces are attractive, they are hard to read, so use them cautiously. They can be utilized on the cover in a massive typeface for the program title and the deceased's name. Stick to simple non-serif fonts that are easy to read.

It Must Set the Right Mood

The gravity of the occasion must be reflected in the memorial ceremony program. It doesn't need to be bright or catchy. Stick with plain white paper and black ink instead of neon paper. If using color, make sure it's only on the cover.
