Cobblestones Gasping
by Odin Roark Stiletto heels echo the fashion-stone's original history Where calloused skin and crude soles did tread When passage by Roman causey Made previous mud and boulder surface But almanac index of today What tales might be told Were cobbled pavement given voice How calamitous might blood drenched cries Be heard remembering What number of warrior marches Did tramp upon such surface Where echoes of suffering Found final solace among the mortar The sealant from further languish Yet Two Rodeo Drive Where knowledge of architectural heritage Remains smothered Beneath modern cobblestone faux Bears the elite of what They know not of Treading empty headed Glowering over today's choice Tomorrow's party attention Fantasy's forever ill begotten reality Human claim © 2013 Odin Roark |
