Cobblestones Gasping

Cobblestones Gasping

A Poem by Odin Roark
"

Interesting how some of history’s roads of suffering convert into modern delusion.

Cobblestones Gasping
                        by Odin Roark

Stiletto heels echo the fashion-stone's original history
Where calloused skin and crude soles did tread
When passage by Roman causey
Made previous mud and boulder surface
But almanac index of today

What tales might be told
Were cobbled pavement given voice
How calamitous might blood drenched cries
Be heard remembering
What number of warrior marches
Did tramp upon such surface
Where echoes of suffering
Found final solace among the mortar
The sealant from further languish

Yet

Two Rodeo Drive
Where knowledge of architectural heritage
Remains smothered
Beneath modern cobblestone faux
Bears the elite of what
They know not of
Treading empty headed
Glowering over today's choice
Tomorrow's party attention
Fantasy's forever ill begotten reality
Human claim
