Tabled Destiny

Tabled Destiny

A Poem by Odin Roark
"

For some of us, spiritual rallies are but inept attempts to perpetuate the same ol’, reminding us once again of the other “What if?"

"
Tabled Destiny
             by Odin Roark

Life's tsunami starts way back
the shifting tectonics of time
re-form yet another evolution
one's bargained death wish in disguise

Most know not
when disturbance begins
when spilled milk begins to teach
when failure trumpets wisdom

From cradle to grave
we're taught
you can't have that
preschool
elementary
middle
high
higher
ahhh
the onion skin admission ticket

PERFECT JOB

Do this
Have that
Eight hour work day
No
Twelve hour work day
Yes
Be reasonable
No
Shark-infest your waters
Yes
Earn your bonus
No
Scheme your advance
Yes
Retire with honor
No
Cash in beating the system
Yes

PERFECT RELATIONSHIP

Honest background
No
Fabricated heredity
Yes
Thinking
No
Status quo
Yes
Intelligence used
No
Entitlement expected
Yes
Quiet and focused
No
Loud and scattered
Yes
Enjoined
No
Divorced
Yes

ONE DAY

The next random shift erupts
innate calendars run asunder
you're finally free
no more corralling of instinct
no more downside to curiosity
no more programs to die by

INFINITY CALLS

Shackles fall free
unhappiness exits
flames cleanse bodily disease
smoke and cloud transport molecules of ecstasy
to form anew

NEXT STOP

Catching the first breeze to nowhere
to everywhere
to schedules unknown
to existence sans time

Where chance be not tabled
where worth be not an issue
and day and night be one
with all that
was
is
and will ever be
