Teflon ImpotenceA Poem by Odin RoarkWith so many choices to latch onto, why do so many merely slide about?
Teflon Impotence
by Odin Roark Oh how the slippery Would have us slide Whether upon forgettable Britney Or a New Jersey Housewife Late night infomercials Slow bake our minds into Wannabe prime time pop tarts ourselves Glissading from one slick surface to the next Masturbating our quick droolatory servings How similar our daytime experience Sliding across the screen-pundit talk Non-stick education Shaking the slimy paw of El slicko bankers Their sleight of hand finesse So seductive Such happens Reducing our existence To a Teflon life Where unlike its scientific understanding Long-chain polymer Fluorocarbon plastic properties Have integrity Creating abilities to resist the drag of intrusion Almost a well as gold and platinum We skid not into a better life But merely maneuver Through each day’s slippery slope Unknowingly needing Some lasting nourishment You know That old fashioned way Willing to suffer the unwanted sticking In order to live Rather than Merely exist As a slip and slide convenience For others © 2014 Odin Roark |
