A Messenger’s Whisper
                       by Odin Roark

Along love’s rugged shore
Forever roams the messenger
A plume from on high
Floating just above swell’s grasp

How often does it dip
Twirling its dance of ecstasy
Mesmerizing open minds
Arresting vulnerable hearts

Senses hold their reserve
As reason remains elusive
The gossamer-message reserved
Abiding awakening’s destined time

Seasons pass
Strained senses remain alert
As pinion’s envoy stays vigilant
Measuring passion’s longing

Having never abandoned shore’s edge
A certain sunrise appears
Where familiar foot-steady passage
Averted ebbs and tides unpredictable
Flotation’s direction unknown

One feels love’s gentle nature
Like a feather brushing
The cheek of patience
Smiling the nod of acceptance

And the smile of joy
Opens imagined wings to fly
Accepting the long awaited nod to love
To soar within the once enigmatic trust
Of a messenger’s whisper
