What Is Love???

What is love. This some quick thoughts on what I feel it is.

When you watch Love stories, you can't help but wonder why it has such a dramatic impact on people, to make them feel as if it is possible that romance is real and that love is possible. The producers of the film know that there is that desire. There is a desire in each and everyone of us, to have that feeling of love and the emotions that come with it. It seems that the only time those things are felt are at the beginning of a relationship. Its what I call the "lust" phase where we are infatuated with the other.

How to keep that feeling, that state of bliss that you find when you first start out together? What is it that causes these feelings to go away? At the beginning you are so into your companion that you are willing to over look their flaws. They seem to be prince charming, when in reality they are imperfect, as all humans are. We want a fantasy, not reality.

The reality is, we are all imperfect. We have our flaws that must be accounted for when loving someone. What really makes true love is the willingness to deal with those flaws and make the extra effort to overcome those flaws, that you may continue to experience the feeling that you have associated with love in the first place. Love comes when you accept the flaws

Yeah, I agree. Thou I see myself really as what should I call not that knowledgeable about love but I do believe that when you love someone you should have that space or thinking that he may hurt you or disappoint you somehow. truly, love comes when you accept the flaws. Good taught.

I really like this... very thoughtful.
I think you are right to wonder - what is it that changes as we move out of the 'honeymoon period'? An interesting thought.
Are people chasing the fantasy, or are they in fact chasing the reality - which is as you say, to love someone is to accept flaws.
I know that I want someone to accept me for who I am...
