Deer in the NightA Poem by Chase
It staggers leaning on an oak while
the white light of night streams broken through the trees It gasps- bare ribs heave grasping at the frigid air as desperately as skin does to flesh. It falls having lost the oak's support; a tangle of sinew amidst gnarled roots that pay no mind. It dies- tucked in with a blanket of snow by a world ignorant of it's passing © 2017 ChaseReviews
