A storyA Poem by paige aldridge
At the start of your life there is awe's and loves and protection the
passing around of the new born child to the loving arms of a family
member one after the other ...
now whether i got that or not I'm unsure but i find it unlikely. I do remember the fights the cry's for help the constant battle for survival to look at us you would see a normal family but what is hidden beneath the surface is far from normal. you have the beautiful mother pale skin dark hair strong Irish woman the mother to four who secretly fights for her life each night cries herself to sleep in pain bruised and bleeding and not just from the beatings but the scars these events leave on the heart of the finally beaten down Irish woman. The father the handsome strong green eyed Englishman who secretly fights for his sanity each day and night who hurts the one he love's the bone crunching sound and bone hitting bone echoing around in his head fighting his own demons but don't see he is the demon we are fighting each night the same role he plays continuing to fight but not realizing he is fighting the wrong battle. The boys who follow in the foot steps of the demon fighting father who continues the fight even after he has long gone even though the beatings for them may have stopped they continue for the mother and the new born child as she grows now for the same battle to follow on with the next generation the fight never stops the demons become stronger. The little girl born into this fight.she walks with her head low to the ground with bruises of body and soul scars clear to see some not so easy to spot walking around with the eyes of the Englishman memories haunting her every step she takes soon to be left to fight her fears none to explain why or how and so now her own battle begins she takes along with her the strength and fear or the pale Irish mother the eyes of her father the battle of her brothers and now the past memories of the long lonely road that some how never seems to end but the fight she will take will not be a repeat of the past but the fight to succeed even if she was set up to fail even if the stars and moon are set she will not walk the path of the past the past of others their fight ends with her and the new battle of life begins. © 2015 paige aldridge |
