Chess with the Devil

Chess with the Devil

A Poem by Paige

Detached lies and cool words float around your mind
Melodies of smart lies dance around your tongue
You play so humble knowing you're a god
Your pawns are afraid of the "game over" flashing in their minds
It's cruel and part of an arrogant man's plan to have his way with all
But legends fall
Stories end their lives' a moral to teach the thousands
A beauty called lust is born
Her brain clever with deceit
She's made into a new name
She steals more than the ancient nix's perfection and true way to be
She's donned with her name too "love"
And she rolls off every sad sap's tongue.

We defend to keep the devil at bay and develop love, the offspring of lust, brilliant thinking in this. I love chess too and would hate to think what the devil would do if he got an early check mate! I like the way you have kept you chess references out of the poem, thats subtle, great write.

A pursuit that still leaves you empty in the very end.

A satire and sarcasm of life's futility... I love chess btw. This write holds bitter truth, but ignores the magic of the game. It is not all for nothing. The "check mate" of life has been thwarted. Love will claim her place on the board of eternity and slay all pretenders.
Well concieved satire on false love...

Nicely written. Now the time has been come to play a chess with devils.
