Don't Forget Me

Don't Forget Me

A Poem by Pam
"

I just needed to write something last night, so I worked on creating this poem. The last couplet has a lot of meaning towards the whole poem.

"

Where do I even start?

Before it all happened, my emotions were torn apart.

Now that you’re gone, things are tough.

One minute I miss you and everything feels rough,

The next, I try to forget everything that’s ever been there.

For me, none of this is fair.

Distractions are only temporary,

Wish I could say the same for my memory.

A book on depression,

Furthered my aggression.

I feel doomed by it all,

Why did I even ever have to fall?

The first week was a pain,

Everything I exclaimed was probably in vain.

Tears greeted me every morning,

I tried to keep my guard up and look for a warning.

At times I was in denial,

But then I had to decide when the time would be final.

You wouldn’t escape my mind,

No matter how many times I tried.

What is this feeling I keep buried inside?

It runs and continues to hide.

How do I say it any clearer?

Sometimes I can’t even breathe,

I just need a little bit of relief.

I feel tempted to act as I normally wouldn’t,

And I know I shouldn’t.

You left my heart empty, and it can’t be easily fixed,

My emotions about it all are continuously mixed.

Moments are needed, when I stop myself and ask,

Why am I letting it all get to me, maybe I should just let it pass?

I can’t confirm that it’s true love,

It’s like a weapon and a dove.

The lines above are amazing. Love can feel so good than be a blade twisted into our heart leaving scars forever. I like the internal thoughts and the very good ending. Thank you for the excellent poetry.
