Tower

Tower

A Poem by parker

And oh, I loved your armor.
I thought I loved your gallantry.
If I could play the maiden, well,
I thought that you would fight for me.
So now I'm in my tower wondering
What became of all our pleasantry?
I climbed up here with no way down
And thought that you would come for me.
When the time has come to settle down,
You'll come for me. Eventually.
But until then you'll leave me here,
Yours. And safe. Under lock and key.
But you forget, as I do not,
My love is the only security
And every day with every hour
Your hold on me is weakening.
So if you return and I'm not here,
If you turn and realize I am free-
It's because I finally love myself
More than you ever loved me.
