Tango

Tango

A Poem by parker

I know that wheels are turning
behind those gentle eyes,
and I think a fire's burning
behind that cool disguise.
I know what they've been saying,
'cause I know what they see,
but the only people playing
this game are you and me.
I don't know if you're frightened,
or if you want me here.
Your burden could be lightened
if you would let me near.
And I feel my heart beating
faster when you come 'round,
but I see you retreating
back to neutral ground.
We can't tango forever,
so tell me how it ends.
A hand, a heart, a lover?
Or maybe a just friend.
