Mask

Mask

A Poem by parker

I love pictures.
If I smile in a picture, I'm happy.
You stand next to me and smile,
You must be my friend.
If I make a funny face, I'm goofy.
If I frown, I'm sad.
Isn’t it strange that for just one millisecond
I can arrange my face
and for as long as that picture exists
I am the person that I portrayed.
I wish that I could do that in life.
Smile for a millisecond
and let that smile be my mask
until I choose another personality.
I feel like I’ve been smiling for years,
Waiting for the shutter to close.
